Lent is the Christian season of spiritual preparation before Easter.

Updated: Mar 14, 2020

At St. James Baptist Church this year, our path and assignment for Lent 2020 will be Deepening Our Spiritual Anchor. Lent begins on Ash Wednesday February 26, 2020.  This year, to help attain our spiritual goal of deepening our relationship with Christ, please:

1. Read Ephesians

There are six chapters.  Within those six chapters there are 155 verses.

By reading four verses each of the 40 days of Lent, you will have read all six chapters. King James Bible translation is suggested. Use other translations for help understanding some of the more complex Bible terminology.

2. Make a list

Note, and list, six verses (one per chapter) that speak specifically to you and your spiritual journey.  Keep the list where you can see it daily.  This will be a daily reminder, spiritual support, and your personal anchor.

3. Optional Sharing

Email, text or in writing, share your one verse from each chapter with me, Pastor Thomas.

These will be anonymously posted periodically on our Facebook page so others, a wider community, can benefit from our Lenten discipline.  Remember, names will be excluded!

Overall, our prayer emphasis during this Lenten season will be for HEALING and TRUTH TELLING in 1) In our lives 2) In our homes and 3) In our churches, and 4) In our nation.

Yours in Christian love,

Pastor Jeffrey Thomas
